A pulsating climax to the East Anglian derby saw Pablo Couñago grab an equaliser for the Blues in injury time from a Darren Bent missed penalty. Prior to that, the game had taken much the same pattern as recent derbies, Town having most of the play before conceding, and once again there was more than a little controversy.

Town eventually ran out 1-0 winners in Luxembourg after making heavy weather of their UEFA Cup qualifying round first leg against part-timers Avenir Beggen. A last gasp Marcus Stewart goal, perhaps the only moment of quality in a dire game, gave the Blues a lead to take into the home leg.

Town got off their season off to a winning start as goals from Darren Ambrose and Marcus Bent brought victory against Walsall at the Bescot Stadium. The Blues rarely seemed in trouble despite playing the last 23 minutes with only ten players, Darren Ambrose having gone off with a cut to the mouth.
